Louis XVI mahogany commode

c. 1785 · Paris

$445,000

One of one. Price is firm unless Sally says otherwise in person.

Three drawers, a breakfront front, and mounts that are still sharp. It was in a private apartment in Paris until 1998 and then in one American collection. Both invoices are in the folder that travels with the piece.

Materials

Mahogany, marble top, gilt-bronze mounts

Size

35 in high · 51 in wide · 23 in deep

Condition

The marble is the one that belongs with it: the outline matches the top. Mounts are original and have not been replated. One lock is a later French replacement.
